Don't keep me in the dark

At last it is dark enough to have lights in the garden. Our Ikea lamp looks beautiful in the evenings. It lights up by itself when the evening darkens and closes down when it is light enough.

Summer!

Even though it was rather cold when we woke up (10 degrees), I think it is finally safe to say it's summer.

Sweet inspirations

Good things happen to those who patiently wait. We have had a big pile of slate in our front yard for ages (around seven years). Then out of blue my husband decided to start laying them in front of the gazebo and after one weekend we almost have a new patio -  a couple of more days (and an aching back) and it will be all ready for midsummer drinks. No thanks to me as usual..

O holy night

We bought a church candle holder for eighteen candles. It looks rather impressing in the gazebo, I think.

Great skis for any weekender, don't you think?

Warming up

It is getting a bit chilly in the evenings so we took the woolen blankets out of the closet and into the gazebo. At the moment we are also glad that we bought a couple of woolen carpets for the gazebo as wool is really warm under the feet (compared to cotton).

More work

After the gazebo was finished we needed to rearrange the garden furniture. The old marble table top with an old sewing machine leg was a perfect little table for the gazebo patio. The chairs are from around the garden.

Ready for anything

Now the gazebo is finished! It was raining a bit yesterday evening, but it didn't matter at all as we were sitting inside the gazebo, good and dry.

Almost there

The gazebo is starting to look rather good. The front wall is still under construction and we haven't yet decided what to do with the floor but otherwise things are looking up. It is rather windy right now and already it was really nice to sit inside the gazebo.

Three steps to heaven, step two

We are getting there with the gazebo, now there is a roof and the structure is stained black. The next step is to install the windows. We are still wondering what to do with the floor...maybe we'll use the teak panels we already have (bought them for the bathroom floor but as the painted concrete looked really good we never used the panels) or make a wooden floor and paint it. Stay tuned folks!

Seeing things

Picture me in a glass gazebo, sitting comfortably in a rattan chair with a cold drink in my hand. I can totally see this even though the gazebo isn't half ready.

Waiting for inspiration

We have almost everything we need for a glass gazebo. All we need is inspiration and some plans: where, how big, what kind of form etc. And I also need to strip the paint from the doors. Something little to do, once again.
