Wall art

We bought quite a bunch of 50's ads that were glued on dark paperboards. A few of them we hang on the living room wall (photo below), the others are in the shop museum.

How would I get better service?

We collect metal trays. Usually the ones we buy feature whiskey, gin or other alcoholic beverages. For some reason we also bought one big tray with colourful flowers. It is a beauty, isn't it? The English really know their trays. I just have to be careful as we don't have much room for the bigger trays and there are a lot more of these flower trays around than there are of alcohol advert trays...

Cute as a kitten

It's rather hard to find 50's/60's chocolate boxes that are in a good enough condition for the shop museum (but don't cost too much). This Panda's box from around the 60's was a good catch.

How's the weather?

We don't have to wonder any more whether it's raining or shining as we bought an old weather station (sääasema) from flea market. Does anybody know where this is from or where these were used? We have no idea.

Mirror, mirror..

My husband found a Korean 50's record yesterday. The lady sings really well, it didn't even matter  that we didn't understand a word. As a bonus, the cover matches my 50's hand mirror perfectly.

Tin fever

We visited a couple of flea markets today and I am happy to report that we found a lot of beautiful things. Here is a selected few: old cardboard boxes and metal tins:

Just before

We did a big job rearranging the shop museum a couple of weeks ago. And just as everything was in place we found "new" shelves. Now we have three meter wide (and almost as high) shelving and have to move everything once again.

Well, here is how the museum looked before the re-rearrangement:

Not a sweatshop any more

I am a big fan of our new fan :) We found a 60's Durch fan that is in a perfect working order and looks great. I am sure the shopkeeper had just one like it in our shop during the 60's!

Too old for the museum

Our shop museum is dedicated to things from the 50's and 60's and maybe even some things from the 70's. Every now and then we find irresistible things that are older than that. As these cannot be stored in the museum, we have to find a place for them in the house. Last weekend I bought a beautiful biscuit tin from the 30's. The oranges and blue-greens of the tin are exactly the same as in our Korento tableware! So it was easy enough to find a place for it in our kitchen.
