Just saying hello

We have several old globes and decided to paint one of them with black chalkboard paint. My husband first soaked off the paper (map) and after the globe had dried he painted the globe without priming it first. This globe is plastic and the finnish was perfect with only one coat of paint.  Thanks to google we found several translations for the word hello - and my husband wrote the words on the globe roughly where the language is spoken. Neat, eh?

Around the world in 24 days

It is a long way for little biggies to travel, all around the world and only 24 days to do it.

No empty shelves here

We now have a large chest of drawers in the bedroom so there is lots of room to display globes, jugs and other stuff there, too.

Turquoise dreams

Turquoise vases are my weakness, especially if the vase is from the fifties. I usually only buy ones in pristine condition. This one's lower handle was glued but I bought it anyway as the price was right and the repair was rather unobtrusive.

Ball of fire

The old chrystal globe looks great when the light is on, almost as it were on fire.

What else

First we got the type writer, then the globe. There is still room on the dresser for more...maybe some nice old pens or eyeglasses.

Globes from the 60's

The world changes but the crystal globe stays the same forever. We already have three of these. I think three is enough but my husband is of another mind. Let's see what happens...
