Home (cottage) shopping

I wanted a table for the hall and bought a too big one from an internet flea market. Never mind, we moved the big table to the cottage and brought a smaller one to Vårkulla's hall.

Keep calm

All is well at the cottage. There has been a couple of storms but luckily only one fir tree had dropped its top into the garden. Most of it was on the lawn, so we didn't need to do anything right away.

Cauliflower fever

I dare you to try this recipe even if you aren't a great friend of cauliflower. After this, you will be!

1 big cauliflower cut into pieces that are just the right size to eat
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 cm of ginger, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon jeera (juustokumina in Finnish)
3 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 chili minced and with the seeds ( I used habanero but if you are not used to chili, choose a milder one and disregard the seeds)
1 tablespoon white vinegar (balsamico)

Mix everything in a large bowl, cover and refrigerate for at least 10 hours. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees. Put the califlowers with the marinade to a large oven dish and bakefor 15 minutes. Take out of the oven and turn the cauliflowers a bit and continue baking for 15  - 25 minutes or till the cauliflowers are done and a bit coloured.

We ate the cauliflowers with coldcured salmon and dark bread (I fried the salmon and bread together in butter and mixed the bread-salmon to the cauliflowers) but this would be delicious with chicken and rice, too.

This recipe is from last week, today we ate cauliflower with spinach.

Reminds me of beer

We have a small collection of brown glass. Two are new and two are from flea markets. We started with green glass and after collecting it for a while, the brown ones started to look good, too. And here we go again, collecting starts and never ends..

Almost there

The bathroom is looking even better...most of the lists are in place and most of them are painted at least once. I even got a window shelf (which is not painted nor fastened yet).

Caged animals

After Christmas we put the golden squirrel in a cage. Don't ask why, we just did.

Who needs wine

We have started to put a big jug of water on the living room table for the evenings. It is funny how often you reach for a sip of water when it is easily available.
