A regular working day

The photo could have been from the 50's (as the shop and the tractor are). But it is from today, taken after my husband slaved away with the tractor, tackling the enormous gravel pile in the front of our shop. No more mowing the lawn here, thank you!

Win some, lose some

Even though we collect (a lot of) things, we also sell some. We are having a flea market and a shop museum open day on come Saturday. My husband made some new signs for the event, looking good, don't they!

Define fun (or vacation)

Yesterday we woke up at six and at sevenish we were already moving furniture in the shop. The day before we had cleaned up an old shop desk (from around 40's) found in the garage. In addition my husband made a new top for it (the old one was plastic and it didn't look very good after years of use in a garage). Yesterday we moved the desk to the shop (with a tractor and a lot of elbow grease) and I rearranged the furniture to make room for it. I had ordered some new stock from Denmark/France and arranged the stuff on the desk. Meanwhile my husband did what husbands do: he built things (the gazebo of course). A good day all in all but we were both a bit tired around four thirty when we started to enjoy early dinner.

Heavy weights

It seems that the beginning of the year is a good time to find vintage weights..these Konesilta ones we found last weekend. We already have a Konesilta shop scale but it missed the weights. Now we have a complete set! The wooden tray needs a bit of polishing but otherwise the set is in good condition.

Good ol' days

These photos are from the last weekend. A steam train went by and we had our 50`s shop open for business (flea market). The view from the shop´s door must have been about the same 60 years back.

Must buy me some sweets

We have a Fazer sweet stand from the 50's. It has 12 glass tubes and a white metal stand. My husband washed the tubes at the cottage and the glass looks like new. We still have to figure out what to do with the chrome lids as they are in rather a bad condition. We thought about painting them white but on the other hand we'd like to preserve the original looks. Maybe somebody could chrome them again.

Shopkeeper's dream

Our shop's floor is painted green and all old wall boards are taken off. Now we can start furnishing and soon we can organize a flea market weekend! (Who cares that the windows are almost dropping off and the door lets the sunshine in from all the wrong places).

Tastes like cardboard

We found the rack at our shop and after cleaning it up we filled it with these old chocolate bars. Or they are not really chocolate, they are filled with cardboard and meant to be used as marketing material. My brother found them at flea market and bought them for us.

It's gonna be green

We are on vacation and that means we have time to do things that cannot be done on weekends. One favourite is to visit the local waste tip to get rid of  stuff that gathers when doing renovations. Yesterday we made two trips to the tip to get rid of the shop's floor and wall boards. Both the floor and the walls were in good(ish) condition under the old cardboards and wood boards.

The nails need to be removed from the floor before it can be painted (green).  It will look great when finished, I am sure.

Waiting for visitors

We started cleaning up our shop yesterday as we want to organize a fleamarket or two during the summer. My husband got a great idea to hang the extra chairs on the wall of the storage. Now we have more room to clean up and store things that are currently messing up the store floor.
