Let it snow

My husband is outside shovelling snow to cover the stones of the foundation to save electricity. So, never mind if you hate snow or not, it is a good thing to have some when it is minus 20 degrees!

Green Christmas

It's been an exceptionally warm winter so far. I decided to at last throw away my summer hydrangeas yesterday but they had grown new spuds so I put them in the shed instead. If the winter will be warm throughout, I just need to water them every now and then and they just might survive till spring.

Our Christmas tree is the last of the last that were sold in Loviisa's market place on Christmas eve. My husband managed again to arrive to the place as the sellers were packing their stuff (this happened last year, too). He would have gotten the tree for free but as the money went to a charity, he paid for it anyway, all in good Christmas spirit.

Keep calm

All is well at the cottage. There has been a couple of storms but luckily only one fir tree had dropped its top into the garden. Most of it was on the lawn, so we didn't need to do anything right away.

Winter memories

My husband managed to take a couple of photos when it still was cold. Here is one from Christmas day (night). Have a happy new year's eve, never mind the weather!

A winter moment

On Saturday morning it snowed and on Sunday evening all snow was gone. Mind, I'm not complaining, just stating the facts.

The shortest winter ever!

If this is all of the snow for this winter, I am happy. The view from our bedroom window is from Saturday, today there is no snow left, great!

Everything is black and white

Where are all the colours? I want summer and I want it now! Ok, maybe I want to celebrate Christmas first but after that, summer straight away, please.

Short winter

I can take a winter that lasts a couple of days. And I am happy that it snowed before it got freezing!

And..action!

It is very rewarding to feed the birds in winter. There is a lot of action as soon as you fill the feeder.

More frost

One has to enjoy the beauty of the frost as one cannot enjoy freezing to death..

All is white

I think the little doves wish it were summer and they could go back to the cottage and enjoy all the beautiful flowers.

The sun was out

The sun was shining the whole weekend. It was a bit cold to sit outside, though and the chairs in our garden could keep their light snow cover.

This must be the first time in the whole winter when the wind wasn't blowing the ribbons!

 

Looks almost like summer

There is so little snow that these two birds could have as well been photographed in the summer. Well, it was almost -20 degrees when the picture was taken.

Merry Christmas

The Christmas still has a hold in the garden. I'll have the Christmas ornaments outside till the photographer visits to take pictures for next year's Christmas story.

Leaves or not

The lilacs look good even without flowers and leaves. I love the graphics of them. Of course I would prefer summer and all the green and lilac and wonderful scents.

Baby, its cold ouside!

It is cold and getting colder. Yesterday it was -15 and almost no snow. I feel sorry for my poor perennials, I hope they'll survive this awful winter. The garden looks pretty though, with all the frost.

Just a little warmth

We have Christmas lights on our sauna's window shelf. The lights warm the window a bit and the frost makes beautiful ornaments.

Looks can deceive

It might seem that the white stuff in this picture is either washing powder or finger salt but it is snow. The first snow this year, the picture was taken on Saturday morning.

Time for candle light

At last it is so dark you can burn candles in the garden. And these holders look good in daylight, too.

I don't want to sit down

It is not very tempting to sit in the garden anymore but at least the sitting group still looks good.
