As we now have a 60's car, we of course needed a picnic table to go with it. Thanks once again to tori.fi, we found a 60's folding table. So Ruukki picnic (link), here we come! By the way, when you have an old car you really should have a picnic lunch with you where ever you go as the trip might not go quite as planned. And then it is nice to have a table and chairs, too - I am not willing to sit in a car without air-conditioning (waiting for help if the car doesn't work).

Seeing things
Picture me in a glass gazebo, sitting comfortably in a rattan chair with a cold drink in my hand. I can totally see this even though the gazebo isn't half ready.

Not so hungry
Even though we seldom (read: nearly never) have a picnic, I bought a picnic basket. It has room for two large wine bottles (1,5 litres) and a small cheese and some bread. So, perfect for those days when you are not so hungry but like to drink a lot :) By the way, any picnics today are had in our living room due to heavy rain and strong wind.

Red and orange
It is a pity there are rather few flowers with strong colours. They'd do well in the strong sunshine in Vårkullas front garden...here are some heucheras and lilies that do the trick.

Garden jungle
It doesn't take long - just a couple of years and the perennial borders under the apple tree have turned to a jungle. This is exactly the effect that I was planning so no complaints here.

Like magic
The people in olden days were rather clever. Case in point: a chair that turns to a ladder in a blink of an eye. A bit of sanding and a lick of paint and we'll have a perfect furniture for the new glass gazebo (which doesn't exist yet so there is no hurry to pick up the paintbrush).

A moment of bliss
Pimpinellifolia roses (juhannusruusu in Finnish) are pretty but they flower rather a short time. The time is now, so enjoy! I had to move some of the garden furniture away from the backyard (from the way of building the gazebo) and now we have a nice place to enjoy the roses.

Waiting for inspiration
We have almost everything we need for a glass gazebo. All we need is inspiration and some plans: where, how big, what kind of form etc. And I also need to strip the paint from the doors. Something little to do, once again.

More of the same?
The trouble with collecting is that you'd like to show off the collection but there never seems to be enough room on the shelves or cabinets. Some of our (newest) whiskey jugs are now in the hall, on the side table. It might not be the best of places for bar accessories but there is no room elsewhere.

Drink up
One more, once more - there seems to be a never ending supply of old trays with booze ads in flea markets and we are always happy to buy them all (providing they don't cost too much). I have never heard of Macnish Whisky but the tray looks good enough for our collection.

Say cheese
I've been on a lookout for old cheese molds for some time now, but never seen any in flea markets. On saturday I happened to find three (cheap) ones. My husband wasn't too impressed by the engravers' skills but for me the molds were good enough even though the patterns really are very simple ones. I think I'll hang these somewhere on the kitchen walls.

Rational thoughts
How do you make decisions? Everybody knows that you shouldn't buy a house by judging it's yard/garden (we did, twice). And I guess the most important thing when buying a car isn't the perfect colour or that it looks great. Well...our new baby has passed inspection during May this year and the motor kind of runs so it's ok to make a decision based on cuteness, isn't it? The colour is cream, in the photo the car looks a bit too white. So picture it as a cream one and it is just perfect! The Opel Kadett was in production from 1962 to 1965 and was registered for use in 1966 and has had only one owner (a restaurant help) before the guy who sold it to us bought it. So we are the third (happy) owners.

White on!
I'd love to have white flowers in the garden but the problem with them is that they don't die so prettily. Luckily there are exceptions to the rule: tiarella cordifolias (rönsytiarella in Finnish) and anemone sylvestris (arovuokko in Finnish). Tiarellas like shade and anemone sylvestris thrive anywhere.

First of many
Paeonia anomala (Kuolan pioni in Finnish) is the first paeonia to flower in spring. I have many other paeonias as both I and my husband love them. Let's hope for sunny days when the paeonias are in flower as their heavy flower heads can't take any rain.
